HOW CAN YOU HELP?
1. OBJECT NOW - YOUR VOICE MATTERS
The more formal objections submitted against the planning application, the better chance we have of the pit being rejected. Submitting a formal objection is one of the most powerful ways to show our opposition. Every objection counts. If you objected to the initial screening pre-application last year, you will need to object again now.
Not sure what your objection could include? Use our guide to help you: click here to view it
Please DO NOT copy the words directly from this guide as your objection will not be considered valid by the Development and Regulation committee.
The guide outlines 8 key objection areas you may wish to draw on. Each one provides context and explains why it is valid grounds for objection. Use the areas to help shape your own personal objection. You do not need to cover all 8 areas - focus on the ones you feel are most relevant to you.
In your objection, please remember to:
-
✅ Be factual and objective – stick to points that can be backed up (e.g. environmental impact, traffic concerns, noise levels.) Avoid personal or emotional arguments such as property value decreasing, which won’t carry weight in planning decisions.
-
✅ One objection per person – Everyone in your household can submit their own objection, regardless of age. You don’t need to live locally — anyone, from anywhere, can object.
-
✅ Get ready to object more than once - as long as each objection raises new points. Submit your first objection now, then follow up after statutory consultees respond. One objection counts per person, but covering more topics strengthens our case.
-
✅ Object by Friday 12th September 2025
-
✅ Write your objection in your own words — DO NOT copy and paste from the guide or your objection will not be counted.
Don’t wait. Make your objection count - NOW IS THE TIME TO OBJECT to stop this industrial pit.

2. SPREAD THE WORD - STRENGTHEN OUR VOICE
One of the most effective ways to make an impact is to tell others about the threat the pit poses to our community, and ask them to object. The more people who object, the stronger our impact.
How to help spread the word:
-
Talk to your friends, family, and neighbours - let them know about the pit, why it's harmful, and how they can object.
-
Anyone can object - they don’t need to live locally.
-
Join our comms group to help distribute leaflets to spread the word in the local area. Contact us here to get involved and let us know you would like to volunteer.
